Rhode Island Breastfeeding Coalition
Thank you all, the breastfeeding conference was a great success and special thanks to our speakers. See you next year.
We are happy to announce
Sharon Rapoza RIBC 2017 Crème de la Crème Award Winner
Sharon has been an employee here at South County Home Health (SCHH) over eight years. Her primary role is as a First Connections home visiting nurse for the Kent and Washington Counties. In addition to being tenacious and meeting all of her productivity and administrative duties, Sharon is the First Connections’ team lead for breastfeeding. Sharon is an IBCLC and a member of the RI Breastfeeding Coalition.
During her 8 years as a First Connections, she has assisted hundreds of women with their own personal breastfeeding goals. She is a tireless advocate for women and THEIR wishes, goals, and desires, never pushing other agendas. She has put herself on call for mothers who are struggling with breastfeeding, answering their calls on her own time and with her own personal phone. She travels to both Washington and Kent counties if the need arises.
Sharon has gone above and beyond working extra hours in order to facilitate a Continuous Quality Improvement project to help increase breastfeeding rates in the Healthy Families America Program (long-term family visiting). Sharon led her team in providing support to mothers who had intentions to breastfeeding, but more importantly providing support to the mothers who had no intention to breastfeed, but ultimately breastfed their child due to the efforts of the team. The support Sharon provides to mothers helps them reach their goal to breastfeed
Sharon is the recipient of many quality satisfaction surveys from patients that she has served, as well as requested again many times when families that she has seen previously have another child. Her approach to women and breastfeeding is matched by none. In her calm, supportive, non-judgmental, and caring approach, she helps families become successful in their goals to breastfeed.
Families have had great compliments for the work they have done with Sharon:
